The Purpose of Rahu and Ketu
In Vedic astrology, Ketu shows the focus of our recent past lives, what we perfected in previous incarnations. This is, however, the area where we feel stuck or uptight by not allowing variety and flexibility. Ketu is our safe and familiar castle. The purpose of Rahu is to reveal limitations we impose upon ourselves because we are overly attached to the false sense of security represented by Ketu. Rahu symbolises a jungle where we feel unsafe and vulnerable. Essentially, it is a field of our inexperience that we need to explore in this life.
Ketu in Aquarius
Having your natal Ketu in Aquarius indicates that in your recent past lives you attempted to create security by identifying with groups and like-minded peers. There was a strong desire to gain validation from other people in your life. This shows that you have a good capacity to feel secure out in the world among people. Your nature is strongly humanitarian and you care about the well-being of those who are doing worse than you. You might actively join movements to alleviate social problems like loneliness, poverty, homelessness, or inequality.
However, you feel less secure as an individual. Too much networking and socialising had probably distracted you from being consistent on your path. It also prevented you from being truthful in your creative self-expression, because you paid too much attention to what other people thought about you. In this life, you will not be satisfied with your group involvement. Social interactions will not be the area where you make the most progress. Your self-esteem and confidence can be conditioned by what your peers think, do, or say about yourself.
Rahu in Leo
This results in a lack of satisfaction with your life and the need to develop your own identity. The opposing placement of Rahu in Leo urges you towards self-inspiration and self-esteem that is based upon your own unique nature, and not on the views of others. However, at times this self-inspiration may be so powerful that you are unable to see any other goal but your own. This is the height of insecurity and overcompensation, which creates frictions and arguments with people.
Eventually, Rahu brings to your attention personal insecurities, which reveal that you are not entirely secure among the group. The goal here is to accept both your differences and similarities. You need to pursue your own ambitions and inspirations, while allowing others to live their lives as they wish.
